I recently started receiving emails from Kohls, whoever they are. I’ve never heard of Kohls before a couple of weeks ago, and certainly never signed up for their email “alerts”.
I’m not an email spam alarmist. If you’ve read any of my stuff you know that I think “opt out” email is perfectly acceptable under most circumstances… and in any event there’s not much we can do about it, even if we don’t like it.
But I would think a credible company (like I assume Kohls is) would have a simple opt-out (unsubscribe) policy.
Not Kohls. After you unsubscribe they tell you your email address will be removed within seven days, during which time you may receive a couple more “alerts”.
This is BS. I suspect it is an out and out corporate lie. I have now unsubscribed at least three times over the course of the last two weeks or so.
We’ll see what happens. In any event I won’t be buying from Kohls…wherever they are.

Kohls is a store similar to JC Penney. I had subscribed with them quite a while ago to get a 5 dollar coupon on purchases, and have tried to unsubscribe at least 5 times with no success. Its getting really annoying considering that they send me an email every other day with “the biggest sale of the season” and “last chance”

Never reply to spam; it only confirms your address is a valid one. If it’s an “opt-out” list, they are spamming, and any communication with the spammer is ill-advised. All “opt-out” spam is by definition unsolicited, and shows the total disregard of the spammer for their spamvictim.
Actually, any “opt-out” spamhouse is very useful for hitting back at other spammers using targeted spam. The great thing about Kohls, is one can insert 100’s of spammers in an hour. (Usually such lists of spammers exist for various professions or industries.
Any spammer using “no-confirm”, “constantcontact” or “bronto” or other “opt-out” spam lists is good for this purpose.
